Wednesday, September 10: Write a thank you note to someone in your family who cooks for you.

Dear Grandma,

Have I ever told you that your turkey meatballs were my first favorite food?

When I was a kid, you made us turkey meatballs every time we visited you in your little condo on the beach. We would drive the eight hours from Sacramento, and whole time I would think about your meatballs. Sometimes I'd swear that I could smell them once we got off of the highway.

Even though I don't eat meat anymore, your meatballs continue to inspire me. I make all kinds of "balls" these days - out of beans, tempeh, nuts, and more - but I'm always trying to recreate that flavor that reminds me of arriving in my favorite place - your condo on the beach.

Love,

Rebecca

  4. Dear MawMaw,

Thank you for all the good food you cook for me. I love the breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert you buy and cook. I like the way you take your time and cook. I like when you let us help you cook. The best food you ever cooked was BBQ chicken and spaghetti. I love when you bake cookies. The cookies I like are sugar cookies and rainbow. Can I please help you bake cookies again? It was fun.

    1. Hello Khullie,
Room 7 is wondering who MawMaw is. We just took a survey of our whole class, and 100% of us have already tried experimenting with cooking or baking. We would all like to have a sugar cookie right about now...still about an hour until lunch and our bellies are rumbling!

  5. Thank you Mommy for cooking all the delicious foods you made me over the past nine years. I love everything you do for me. You are special to me. I love the way you make Spanish rice with black beans and white rice with all those seasonings you put on it. I also love when you let me help you and let me sneak a bite before anybody else. Most of all I love your Mickey Mouse pancakes with extra syrup. I never thought you could make your meals any better but you always do.

  7. Thank you Nana for cooking your delicious food. The kinds of food I like are your gooey bars, latkas, matza balls, and your salad and more. Well as in more I mean ALL your food. It is so good it will vanish. Why I called you last night was I wanted to try your vegetarian burrito. I heard my sister talking about it. I love your food so much it makes me want to be your son. Now I know how my dad feels. Your food dazzles me. Don't forget I love your pineapple upside down cake and when I eat your food it tastes like heaven on a stick. Even if I don't live with you, I am still happy I can eat your food when I can. When you are gone I will cry in pain but I won't forget about your delicious food. Warning/repeat. I will cry in pain, and when you are gone I will also give you some pineapple upside down cake. I would put it right next to your grave so you could eat it. I would also read your amazing cookbooks because they will dazzle me. I love you so much. I will be so cool. Let god be with you and amen. Thank you for being with me.

  11. I am thanked for my mom everytime she cooks. When I wake up on the morning I needed to take a shower so I would eat breakfast early. When I finish eating my mom makes my lunch. She cooks food before she put it in my lunch bag.
