Wednesday, September 24: Who do you look up to?

I look up to so many people, I think it's how I keep from looking down, and dwelling on how very hard it feels sometimes to live the good life I'm striving for.

One of the people I look up to is someone who's been around this blog. His name is Lou.

I look up to Lou for more reasons that I can name here, but one of them is that Lou sees what's truly beautiful about every person he meets. When he talks to you, it's like he can see what you're most proud of, or even what you want to be proud of but you don't know how, and he celebrates it. He makes you feel like being you, really all of you, is a gift you can give to other people.

I want to celebrate my students the way that Lou celebrates everyone in his life. If I can even help a few students feel like they're a gift to the world, that their strengths are the key that will unlock our world, then I've learned something from this man who I look way, way, up to.

  1. I look up to my daddy because he is nice to me. He always help me with my
homework. He always play games with me when I am bored. I always go to
his football games to support him. I love my daddy so much. I say I am a daddy's girl.

Does your dad play for or coach a football team? I'd love to see them play sometime!

  2. I look up to my mom. I look up to her because she remembers everything. Mommy helps me with my homework and goes over division with me. She lets me go to parties and hang out with the girl scouts. My mommy lets me go to her friends house with her sometimes. My mommy lets Bailey come over to play with me when Khaydance is at her friends house. Bailey lives around the corner from us. We use to go to summer camp together. Bailey's mom use to bring my sister, Bailey, and myself to camp every morning. My mom is the best!
I also look up to my uncle Carl. My uncle Carl is the best! He helps his friends and myself. One day he helped me with my homework. Last Saturday he picked me up and bought me a snowball. He also brought me to get a manicure and I picked out a light, light blue. It was awesome!

    1. Khullie,

Did I ever tell you that I was a Girl Scout when I was a little girl? I made it to Brownies but I switched schools in second grade so I didn't get to be in Juniors. I think I still have my Brownie vest in California somewhere...

    1. Zoe,

I look up to so, so many people! On the blog I wrote about my friend Lou. Lou helps people find their own light. Is there anyone in your life who makes you feel really good about yourself?

    2. Zoe,
The people you look up to seem like people I would really like to meet. I think if everyone tried harder to be kind to others, our world would be a much better place. You can teach others what your dad and Ms. Kamille taught you!

    1. Jasmine,
Mrs. Obama is one of my role models, too. She seems like she is a really fun mom, and I like that she reminds all of us to try to eat healthier foods. I think the most important thing you said was about ALL people getting along. You don't have to be Mrs. Obama to spread that message...we need more people just like YOU to help share that message!

  6. Oh Ms. Radding! I have to agree with you. I love Lou because he makes me feel like I can do anything I want to. I look up to Lou because he shows everyone that they are writers with something important to say. I have been reading all of the important things your students have to say, and my students and I can't wait to hear more.
